Networking Meetup & Study Session, Hosted by Digital Animation Society!

A Bi-weekly event allowing society members from all years to come meet each other, gaining peer feedback on work, getting more connections and practising networking, and making new friends!

This will be beneficial for those also looking for, or looking to Freelancing for their coursework, and we'll be more than happy to provide time for you to pitch your project/film ideas, or to advertise your services :) (bring along some business cards and flyers if you want to stand out!)

We'll also try our best to provide snacks and juice (hopefully considering dietary needs), and some chill background music to get everyone into a working mood if we decide to do a class study session together! As well as giving you all a chance to get peer-feedback on your coursework, and learning new techniques from classmates.

We'll also take into consideration people who may find it difficult to socialise or feel introverted - would love you to come along anyways and meet like-minded folks! The events will always aim to feel inclusive and comfortable, so do reach out to the society committee if you're struggling!

Animation Assembly! Short Films & Discussions, hosted by Digital Animation Society

Join your fellow animators weekly/bi-weekly in 1B03 (FMM) as a relaxing study session and a chance to meet the different year groups! We will be streaming some inspiring short films, indie animation and alumni projects on the projector, and having a nice discussion about them.

Any member is welcome to join, look out for emails from the society announcing when these will take place!

However, please make sure noise levels are of a good level and that food & snacks are being eaten in the corridor.

We’ll start by collecting as many plastic bottles as we can around campus, turning a simple act of picking up waste into a meaningful contribution for the environment. After that, we’ll head to the classroom to upcycle the bottles into practical and creative items, such as pencil holders, organizers, or anything your imagination inspires. ✂️

This event is free and open to all students. Materials for upcycling will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own refreshments if you like. By joining, you’ll help reduce campus waste, learn sustainable practices, and create something useful, all while having fun and connecting with fellow students.

The St Albans club is hosting an epic hat tournament on the 4th of May. For those uninitiated, a hat tournament means that teams are assigned randomly on the day and you get to play with players you haven't met before! The first installment had over 100 attendees so this is sure to be a big one. There are 120 spots available so check the google form sent in the group chat to claim your spot.

Tournament Details:

Date: Mon 4th May 2026

Time: TBC (approx. 9.30-17.30)

Location: St Albans RFC, Oaklands Ln, St Albans, AL4 0HR

Venue: Outdoor on real grass (so bring studded boots). There will be changing rooms, first aid, toilets, taps and hopefully even some catering!

Rules: Standard Indoor rules. Loose Mixed (At least 1 MMP and FMP on pitch at all times)

Cost: £10 per person

A weekly chill session for DJ Society members and music lovers. Come hang out, listen to great music, chat about tracks, and learn the basics of DJing on our Pioneer DDJ FLX-4. Members get priority on teaching slots, but everyone’s welcome to vibe, watch, and get involved.

Each week we’ll have a different theme, which will be posted on our Instagram @‌uhdjsociety, so keep an eye out to see what we’re focusing on next.

What to expect
Alongside our weekly theme, we’ll run different activities throughout the year. These can include things like mini mix challenges, listening sessions, set-building workshops, and track-sharing circles, plus other ideas depending on what the society wants to explore. Suggestions are welcome too.

Whether you’ve never touched decks before or already play sets, The Mix Lounge is a relaxed space to meet new people, share ideas, and grow as a community. Teaching slots are first-come, first-served with priority for members

The Mariposa Trust – Saying Goodbye: Baby Loss During Pregnancy and Infancy

We are pleased to welcome Zoe Clark-Coates MBE and Andy Clark-Coates, founders and CEOs of The Mariposa Trust.

Zoe is a renowned grief specialist, multi-bestselling author and government advisor. She led the Pregnancy Loss Review for the UK Government, which resulted in 73 recommendations to improve clinical care and bereavement support, including the introduction of ‘Certificates of Loss’ for pre-24-week pregnancy loss.

Please note: This session discusses baby loss and bereavement, which some may find distressing. The Midwifery Society is here to support anyone affected.

This Webinar is hosted by Midwifery Society!

Join us for an inspiring evening with Professor Laura Abbott, Professor of Maternal Health and Criminal Justice and a former University of Hertfordshire–trained midwife.

Professor Abbott’s work focuses on improving the lives of incarcerated pregnant women and mothers. Her interdisciplinary research spans midwifery, sociology, and criminology, with a strong emphasis on policy, public impact, and social justice. She is the founder of the Specialist Prison Midwives Action Group, Pregnancy in Prison Partnership International (PiPPI), and the Lost Mothers Project, and is widely recognised for using creative approaches, including theatre and arts collaborations, to amplify unheard voices.
