Community Events Coordinator

We’re a fast-paced team with a positive attitude that loves big ideas! We work on a diverse programme of events that ranges from Freshers’ Fair, Diwali, Haunted Forest, Outdoor Cinemas, and everything in between. This role will help you develop your communication, organisation, and event management skills but don’t worry we’ll be with you every step of the way!

We're seeking an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and organizational abilities to support with student-led events. As a part of our Community Events Team, you will have the opportunity to liaise with student societies, assist with event logistics, and lead on a number of events.

Creative Content Producer

Hertfordshire Students’ Union are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our Marketing team as a Creative Content Producer and become part of our fun and dynamic workplace.

This is a brand new role where you’ll get to bring everything we do to life, making our media across all user touchpoints exciting and engaging. You’ll be capturing on-the-ground content that reflects student life and represents our student body, editing it for a range of different channels. The photography & videography you create will not only showcase student engagement but drive it too.

While you’ll be an independent Creative Content Producer, you’ll get to work with a part-time Digital Content Creator, meaning you have someone to bounce ideas off and call on for support, all the while developing your management skills. You’ll both be a big part of our mini but mighty Marketing team. We’ll ask you to bring your biggest and best ideas to the table and, in turn, you’ll have our full support.

Community Engagement Assistant (One year Placement)

We're seeking an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and organizational abilities to support with student-led events and be a welcoming first impression of the Students’ Union. As a part of our Community Events Team, you will have the opportunity to liaise with student societies, assist with event logistics, and provide support across Union departments, as well as manage the Welcome Desk. You'll be the friendly face greeting students, staff, and visitors while delivering top-notch customer service.

We’re a fast-paced team with a positive attitude that loves big ideas! We work on a diverse programme of events that ranges from Freshers’ Fair, Diwali, Haunted Forest, Outdoor Cinemas, and everything in between. This role is a placement role for one-year, full-time, fixed term and you will receive remuneration and employee benefits.

Student Staff Vacancies

Venue Sound and Light Technician

To contribute in a professional manner to the smooth and efficient running of Hertfordshire Students’ Union events at our venues. Must have background in sound or light and understand the operation of equipment. To have due regard for good customer care, equal opportunities and health and safety. Reporting into the Head of Operations, Operations Manager and the Duty Manager.

Community Event Assistant

Our Community Events Team organise a range of events throughout the year that appeal to our diverse student population. They also work closely with 100+ student groups to support their events provision and oversee the Welcome Desk on both campuses. We want all members of the team to understand how the Students Union works, and the value that we can add to student life. Team members should be able to plan and run activities and be real experts on the extra-curricular opportunities available through the Union. We are looking for some new recruits to take up positions on this newly formed role, where you will work either on the Welcome Desk helping with first impressions and incoming queries or supporting the work of the Events team. Full training will be provided.

Successful applicants will provide a welcoming first impression of the Students’ Union by providing excellent and diligent customer service as well as providing general administrative support to all Students’ Union Departments and student groups.

They will also support the Community Events programme within the Students’ Union. This will involve liaising with societies and providing administrative support on events, as well as assisting other Students’ Union departments, the University of Hertfordshire and local community.

Advice Centre Assistant

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting other students. The main purpose of the role is to support the Herts SU Advice Team with all their priority activities, including triaging student drop-in queries, providing front-line advice to students, undertaking phone-call student check-ins, and running promotional outreach activities on behalf of the team.

Insight Assistant

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about gathering insight to drive change and improve the student experience. The main purpose of the role is to support the Herts SU Insight Team, increasing data collection by engaging with students, undertaking outreach activities, and undertaking data analysis whenever necessary.

Assistant Graphic Designer

To deliver high quality design work within our brand guidelines for a variety of Students’ Union projects. The designs that you create will be used across a range of digital and printed channels, including email, posters, social media and our website.

You’ll be part of the Marketing team who are excited to further their outreach, maximise activation opportunities for the Union’s new branding and explore new ways of communicating with our students. Digital Content Creator

You will be expected to seek opportunities to create engaging, student-centred content, including topical pieces and student success stories. Your input will be invaluable in ensuring what we do resonates with the student population here at Herts. Marketing Assistant

To support the Marketing team with their ambitious plans as they strive to raise the profile of the SU and drive engagement with students. Your comprehensive support will enable us to flourish in a range of areas, but particularly with both experiential and social media marketing. We’ll turn to you for everything from creative ideas and support on set through to content creation and print runs. You will make sure everything we do has student input, helping us to maximise our impact.

We’re currently going through an exciting period of growth and your input will be invaluable in ensuring our success. A big focus for the team is to further our outreach, building a programme of activity that generates interactions with students, resulting in a better understanding of the SU and, in turn, increased engagement. Pushing out our new branding through different avenues is another priority for the team. You will work closely with each of us to achieve this, but you will specifically report to the Marketing Executive.
