This October, we’re coming together to celebrate our black heritage, culture and community at Herts, with a range of exciting events and opportunities designed with you in mind. The Black History Month programme has been curated by your President Community, Esther, who's excited to commemorate the month with you 🫶🏾
From discovering new black authors and hearing from inspiring alumni, to getting involved in the Black Students Leadership Programme and building skills to boost your CV, check out what's on offer below...
- Monday 5th October
- We’re kicking the month off with a relaxed session celebrating black creativity, with a selection of books and crafty activities. Whether you're with your mates or flying solo, get ready to express yourself and meet new people while you’re at it.

- Get inspired by former Herts students as they spill all about their career journeys and lessons learned, as well as answering your questions. And once the panel wraps? Head over to the EleHouse for karaoke and belt out your fave Afrobeat hits.

- From braids and locs to afros and protective styles, explore the history and cultural significance behind black hairstyles. You’ll also get to pick up practical tips and advice, while discovering local stylists and new potential go-to hair spots.

- Dress to impress in your best cultural 'fit for the ultimate celebration of black excellence here at Herts. Expect a night of creativity, talent and culture. With a fashion show, live performances and DJs bringing the vibes to round off Black History Month!
