Senior Management

The Senior Management team takes the lead on strategic decisions for the SU. They oversee all of the departments, ensuring we're working towards the goals of the organisation, all the while championing our HERTS values

Rebecca

Rebecca (She/Her)

Chief Executive Officer

Rebecca is responsible for ensuring the strategic objectives of the SU are achieved in line with the vision and values agreed by our Board of Trustees. Rebecca is a key player in managing our relations with stakeholders like the Uni of Herts, the local community and counterparts across the UK


Sean

Sean (He/Him)

Director of Community Operations

As Director of Community Operations, Sean oversees our Commercial, Community Events & Marketing teams. In addition to supporting our commercial, events and marketing functions, he leads on all things health & safety at Herts SU. He also works closely with key stakeholders to ensure our relationships remain strong for the benefit of students


Leena

Leena (She/Her)

Director of People and Resources

Leena oversees our Finance and HR teams. She makes sure our recruitment runs smoothly, our staff members are well looked after and our organisation meets all legal & professional standards required. She provides support for our finance function, making sure our finances are where they should be


Phill

Phill (He/Him)

Director of Advocacy and Education

As Director of Advocacy and Education, Phill oversees the management of the Academic Experience, Advice & Support and Insight teams. He also supports the Elected Officers to ensure students are represented effectively, both academically and non-academically

 

Academic Experience

Our Academic Experience team works hard to represent the academic interests of students and provide them with a range of opportunities to enhance their employability. They support more than a thousand student leaders, including our School & Student Community Organisers (SCOs) & Student Reps! Leading on all things representation, they make sure the student voice is at the heart of what we do

Rhiannon

Rhiannon (She/Her)

Academic Experience Manager

As our Academic Experience Manager, Rhi manages all aspects of student representation at Herts SU. She oversees the team responsible for supporting School & Student Community Organisers (SCOs), Student Reps, School Student Forums & Programme Academic Experience Groups. Rhi also leads on Student Council and plays a key role in the delivery of our annual elections, while providing support to the Elected Officer team throughout the year

Outreach Coordinator

Peter oversees all of our outreach work within the team. He takes the lead on our extensive induction programme, as well as making sure we're visible and accessible across both campuses. He is also responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of our Student Reps

Esther is one of our Elected Officers for 2026-27, following a successful elections campaign during the last academic year. Esther works closely with us all and the university to ensure all students feel included and represented

Judith is one of our Elected Officers for 2026-27, following a successful elections campaign during the last academic year. Judith works closely with us all and the university to ensure we are effectively representing students' academic interests

Representation Coordinator

Rimsha oversees all the support and line management of our School & Student Community Organisers (SCOs). She's responsible for all things onboarding, training and day-to-day support

 

Advice & Support

Our Advice & Support team provide students with free, confidential and impartial advice. They're on hand to support students throughout their time at Herts, whether they need to turn to us for academic or non-academic advice

Faith oversees the smooth running of both the Advice and Insight departments, ensuring our Advice & Support service is delivered to the highest standard and that our comprehensive portfolio of research projects packs the most punch to improve the student experience

Steph is responsible for the smooth running of our Advice & Support Centre. In addition to making sure our service continues to run at a high standard, Steph provides advice and support to students on a range of academic and non-academic issues

Harry is one of our Academic & Welfare Advisers. They provide advice and support to students on a range of academic and non-academic issues. Lots of students that use this service will see Harry, whether they reach out for support online or by popping into our Advice & Support Centre

Advice Centre Assistant

Fabiha is the face of our Welcome Desk on College Lane campus - greeting visitors, answering student questions and offering initial triage for the Advice & Support Centre. Pop by to say hi!

 

Commercial

A world class entertainments venue, The Forum Hertfordshire is our on-campus nightclub. While our Commercial team push boundaries with their innovative clubnights, at the heart of their operation is ensuring students can enjoy a night out in a venue that prioritises their safety

Jon

Jon (He/Him)

Operations Manager

Jon manages The Forum Hertfordshire. His role includes overseeing all aspects of bar operation and entertainment/event management. Events that fall within Jon's remit includes Freshers' Week, Summer Ball and all the weekly nighttime events that happen in between. Jon also takes the lead on the promotion of all commercial events.

Deputy Operations Manager

As our Deputy Operations Manager, Monica ensures our clubnights run smoothly. She trains and supports nearly 100 student staff members in a range of roles, ensuring the venue always delivers a high standard. She also oversees our private hires function, which ranges from university bookings to corporate events and birthday parties

Bar and Events Manager

Our Assistant Bar and Events Manager's primary responsibility is to manage clubnights at The Forum Hertfordshire. She ensures the venue looks amazing and all our student staff give you the best service possible

 

Community Events

The Community Events team produce and deliver an extensive daytime programme of activities, events and trips throughout the year for students to get involved in. They also empower students by helping them bring their own events to life! On top of all the amazing events they run and support, they look after our societies

Community Events Manager

The Community Events Manager oversees our huge events provision and ensures its success. Jessi makes sure that all our events, big and small, have the resources and support they need. Her team has a huge role to play in not only bringing both campuses to life, but bringing students together too

Assistant Community Manager

Izzy leads a team to support our community on campus. She works to develop our non-academic societies with all they do and provide them with the tools to give their members value for their memberships. As part of the Community Events Team, she ensures that Societies are featured in our Events Programme at every opportunity and that all students at Herts feel a part of their mini-community

Community Coordinator

Tayyaba supports our societies, ensuring committee members have everything they need so they can deliver the best experience possible for their members. From training through to tailored 1-1 support and helping with events delivery, her role makes sure we have strong, confident committees, resulting in buzzy student communities on campus! As a placement student, she plays a key role in making sure that the opportunities we provide best cater to students, bringing her own experience as a current student to her work and the team!

Ben works to support and develop our student-led communities here at Herts. As part of our societies team, his work enables committees to create the best possible experience for their members, whilst preparing them with the skills & experience they need to enhance their own professional portfolios. He also line manages our student staff team, ensuring societies get the support they need throughout the year across the events & activities they deliver

Insight

Our Insight team makes sure student feedback informs everything we do. They gather feedback from students in a number of ways, including focus groups, interviews & surveys. They make recommendations to both internal and external (uni) departments based on everything they're hearing

Insight Assistant Manager

Arub is responsible for the curation and analysis of our research projects, from focus groups through to surveys. Her team analyses data throughout the year and provides us with recommendations, including areas that may need campaign attention and services that may need improvement


Muhammad

Muhammad (He/Him)

Data Analyst

As our Data Analyst, Muhammad covers a range of research functions to help ensure we are truly student-led in all that we do. In addition to doing lots of behind-the-scenes number crunching, he helps the team in collecting feedback out on the ground

 

Finance

Our Finance department oversees all of the SU's financial activity. They handle all internal and external payments, as well as making sure all staff - permanent and casual - are remunerated

Finance Manager

Maria manages our Finance team, ensuring the SU remains within our budget and our finance processes run smoothly. Her team manages everything from accounts and audits through to payroll runs and stock control


Jill

Jill (She/Her)

Senior Finance Assistant & Payroll

Jill's role includes processing the monthly payroll for both career staff and student staff. She also deals with holiday pay, Auto Enrolment, HMRC submissions and Gender Pay Gap reporting. On top of all this, Jill supports the team with wider finance functions

Cheryl

Finance Assistant & Accounts

Cheryl prepares our monthly management accounts, reconciles balance sheet controls, processes internal transfers, assists in annual budgets and subsequent forecasting for the remainder of the year, maintains the fixed asset register, prepares year end audit schedules and ad hoc analysis reports as required

 

Human Resources

Our HR department takes care of all staff employed by the SU. They make sure our staff - career and student - are well looked after, from recruitment through to retention

People Adviser

Kc oversees all of our recruitment, both for career staff and student staff. She ensures relevant training opportunities are shared with staff members and supports us with completion. She also helps the team with wider HR functions

Learning and Development Adviser

This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering helpful, inclusive and accessible learning & development programmes for Herts SU colleagues. This includes both our career staff and student staff team

 

Marketing

The Marketing team works hard to ensure that the SU is promoted far and wide, raising our profile and encouraging student engagement. They oversee everything from branding and communications through to socials and website

Creative Content Producer

Our Creative Content Producer curates and manages our photography & videography. Lambert's work is used across all our channels, from digital screens and email through to TikTok and website!


Tara

Tara (She/Her)

Graphic Designer

Tara is responsible for creating all artwork needed by the SU. Whether we need animated designs for socials, graphics for printed materials or artwork for merchandise and signage, Tara is our girl!


Chloe

Chloe (She/They)

Marketing Executive

Chloe essentially does all things comms for us! In addition to curating and delivering our comms across a range of platforms (like emails, social media & website), Chloe supports the team with innovative ideas for our content, the delivery of our outreach programme and the execution of our media sales
