Some insight for our current trustee - “As a student trustee, you'll polish your leadership skills, be a trusted advocate for student voices and much more! You'll gain a deeper understanding of how the university works, and this will definitely help you broaden your perspective of work. Another benefit of being a student trustee is that you are able to network with many senior members of staff, which can help support your academic career after you graduate!

Advantages: • polished leadership and concrete, soft skills desired in any work place • you become an advocate - meaning this means you could understand how students feel (empathy) but also be responsible and showcase their issues in a professional manner (responsibility + organisation) • networking - easier for members of staff who are senior (managers) to recognise you in later job interviews and even ask them questions related to their work in-between breaks • leaving a lasting impact - your changes could benefit students for years coming and that can make you feel really proud of yourself! - it is a very rewarding opportunity.
