Welcome to the Screenwriting Society!
The Screenwriting Society creates a welcoming community for students on related programmes or those with an interest in the subject at the University of Hertfordshire.
Our aim for the Screenwriting Society is that it is a creative community in which members can meet, collaborate, grow and learn alongside other aspiring screenwriters.
We meet on College Lane campus every Friday of the academic year. We aim for a mix of guest speakers and group activities as well as events throughout the year such as socials, all with a film and TV theme.
The best way to improve your writing or to turn your ideas into reality is to find a creative support group.

How to join?
If you study a related course, good news – you have automatically been granted a free society membership to this society and you don’t need to do anything else!

Those who have been granted this free membership will receive an email by the end of September/Early October. If you have any questions about this, please contact us at societies@hertssu.com
If you are not studying a related course, but would still like to join the society, all you need to do is click the purchase membership button on this page from Monday 1st September 2025.

Do you want to help lead this society? – Join the Committee!
We are still looking for students to join the committee for the 2025–26 academic year! If you’d like to help lead the society, all you need to do is join the society and visit this page between 09:00 on Monday, 22nd September and 10:00 on Friday, 10th October 2025, when the nomination form will be open.
