Whether or not you’ve written a screenplay before or are simply interested in how your favourite movie or TV show was written, the Screenwriting Society is a great space on campus to come and explore your passion for screenwriting and sharpen up on your skills along the way! Here, you can develop your writing skills in a fun, social setting and become part of a wider community of young writers. This is important to us here at the Screenwriting Society, as we know that, although writing isn’t exactly a team sport, it is extremely beneficial for us to engage in collaboration and discussion and exchange feedback to really bring the best out in each other. Which is why you can expect the following activities: team writing games, table reads, debates, feedback sessions, script analyses, writing competitions and many, many more.
Some of our aims for the society include:
Expanding our members’ knowledge of screenwriting and its theory.
Improving our members’ screenwriting ability through writing exercises.
Cultivating a safe space for our members to share their work and receive constructive feedback.
Familiarising our members with proper industry practice.
