What is Socialism?

Wednesday 01 October 2025

5:30pm - 7pm

C402, College Lane

Capitalism is a broken system but we won’t pay for its crisis: Join the fight for socialist change

Socialist Students Taster Event: What is Socialism?

Students and workers are being made to pay for the crisis in higher education, the cost-of-living crisis, and endless cuts while the super-rich get richer. We need socialist change.

Come to our taster session to find out:

What socialism really means

How we’re fighting back against cuts, low pay, and fee rises

How you can get involved in campaigns on University of Hertfordshire campus and nationally

We’ll discuss the national campaign, Funding Not Fees, demanding that big business and the super-rich pay for fully-funded, free education, not students and workers. Our demands include:

Stop all cuts and closures on campus – Students and workers unite and fight!

Scrap tuition fees and cancel student debt

Living grants, not loans

Rent controls in student accommodation

End low pay and casualisation of staff

Open to Uni of Herts students and staff with a valid ticket. Please note that tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. View the full Terms & Conditions here
