Navaratri is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrated for nine nights and ten days, dedicated to the worship of the divine feminine energy, or Shakti. The word “Navaratri” means “nine nights” in Sanskrit, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
During the festival, devotees worship different forms of Goddess Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati, each representing strength, wealth, and wisdom. The event is marked with daily prayers, fasting, cultural performances, music, and traditional dances like Garba and Dandiya Raas in many regions of India.
The festival concludes with Vijayadashami (Dussehra), which signifies the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura, and in some traditions, the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.
Navaratri is not only a spiritual celebration but also a time for communities to come together, celebrate culture, and spread joy and positivity.
