Working with Active Students offers many great opportunities to the right candidates to gain some real and exciting work experience in sports development, marketing, events and customer service. Applicants should have some previous experience of working or volunteering in the sports, marketing or events sectors and have the relevant skills to welcome, interact, enthuse other students to get involved in activities which will enhance their student experience. Coaching qualifications are desirable but not essential. As part of the recruitment process all candidates applying for any of the above roles must be available Monday 21st May – Friday 25th May 2018, 9am – 5pm (and possibly one evening) at Herts Sports Village de Havilland Campus to complete the following qualifications necessary for the Activator role: CSLA Level 2 (Community Sports Leader Award) First Aid, Safeguarding and Protecting Children Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Salary

Earn up to £80 per week for 10 hours work.

Hours

Working hours will be spread across daytime, evening and weekends.

Like the sound of the general activator role about but have a passion for a specific sport? This role is very similar however you will have a remit around a specific sport to promote, oversee and encourage students to engage in. Sport Specific Activators will work across Active Students, Campus Sport and Athletic Union.

We are currently recruiting in the following sports:

• Rugby Union (Touch Rugby)

• Football

• Netball

• Volleyball

Some of the duties involved in this role include:

• Promote all levels of the sport campus-wide to encourage more students to get involved via methods such as face to face marketing, leaflet dropping, social media etc.

• Attend key events, such as Sports Fair, Freshers Fair and Refreshers Fair to promote programmes and signpost students to the appropriate level of sport for them.

• Coordinate regular weekly turn up and play sessions, leagues or one-off tournaments. This includes acting as a first point of contact for players and referees at Campus Sport competitions and recording participant data.

• Assist with organising fixtures and regularly updating results and league tables.

• Organise equipment for the Campus Sport programme.

• Identify other opportunities to expand student or staff participation within the specific programme.
