You will be responsible for supporting the work of Production Engineering by means of practical help with projects and working closely with others. Meeting the needs of Product Engineering for procurement and storage of prototype components and equipment. Evaluating and testing samples, prototypes and finished products for the purposes of product development, customer and sales support, and competitor analysis in the field of fire detection test equipment. Analysing, developing and commissioning production test equipment as directed by Production Engineering staff. Keeping ordered, accurate and complete records of all work carried out according to the requirements of the company’s Quality System. Carrying out a wide variety of development tasks with accuracy and professionalism. Responsibly using initiative to progress work when faced with new and unforeseen circumstances. Located in Welham Green.

Skills and Requirements
The ideal candidate will be in the second year of a degree course in electronic engineering or similar discipline with achievement of good grades to date.  They will possess good communication skills with the ability to multi-task and be a logical thinker, a fast learner and an efficient manager of time.  They should be self-motivated and disciplined and willing to work across disciplines in a wide variety of tasks.

Qualifications and Skills
•       3 good A levels (grade A-C) preferably including Maths and Physics
•       GCSE English grade A-C
•       Good all-rounder in science, particularly in knowledge of electronics laboratory environment, physical and chemical properties of materials
•       Practical skills in electronic construction, laboratory experimentation, recording and presenting information
•       Theoretical understanding of workshop safety, electronic circuits, firmware writing, wiring regulations / safety, applied physics and chemistry
•       Good level of competence in MS Office
•       Experience of basic laboratory physics / chemistry experimentation is desirable but not essential
•       Experience of office work using PCs would also be an advantage.

Wages - £15,000 p.a.
