What is our society, and what is our purpose?

We are Herts African Caribbean Society, and our purpose of this society is to shine a light and celebrate different African and Caribbean cultures. We function different events to cater to our members to educate, love and appreciate their culture.

What are our objectives for the year?

This year we want to host different events to celebrate on what makes us unique from our music but to also educating ourselves and debunking culture clashes. Events
ranging from mental health talks to acknowledging the black businesses that our members have created to cater to other members. At the end of the year, we believe our members deserve the best and that’s why we will be organising a ACS Ball!!

Why should you join our society?

The benefits of joining our society will help you make friends with different backgrounds from Africa or the Caribbean, be educated about different cultures, exclusive discounts to our events, workshops with potential partners to help with internship and placements, free events, ACS ball, sports events and networking with likeminded arty people! other societies in particular for your business or interests.

Who are we?

My name is Kevin and I am the chair of the Afro Caribbean Society. I am a second year business and accounting student. I have various experience on leadership like organising local charity events for my community. The biggest aim that I have is to bring people together, learn more about different cultures but to even get in touch with their culture and be able to have those necessary conversations . I am committed in bringing joy and taking care of each member with whatever they need.

My name is Gifty and I’m the Secretary of the Afro Caribbean Society. I’m a 2 nd year Criminology with criminal justice student. I aim to build a bridge with the committee and our members with great communication on our events and to ensure that meetings are conducted for plans to take place. I pledge that I support the committee to ensure that plans are fulfilled and communication is clear and ensure we do our very best.
