Who Are Engineers Without Borders UK?
Engineers Without Borders UK is part of a global movement of more than 60 organisations working toward a safe and just future for all. Their mission is to reshape the engineering sector by inspiring, upskilling, and driving change so that global responsibility becomes central to every engineering decision. They champion an approach where engineering serves people and the planet, not just technical outcomes.
What Is a University Chapter?
University Chapters are student‑led communities that believe engineering can – and should – create positive, lasting change. Chapters form a nationwide network of students who are contributing to the global tipping point for a fairer future. Through hands‑on projects, events, workshops, and community engagement, Chapters give students the chance to explore ideas, test solutions, and grow into globally responsible engineers.

At UH, we’re proud to be part of this movement. Our Chapter brings together students from all disciplines who want to use engineering thinking to address real‑world challenges. We create opportunities to learn, collaborate, and make an impact through:
- Practical projects rooted in global responsibility
- Workshops that build technical and ethical engineering skills
- Outreach and community partnerships
- A welcoming space to explore sustainable, human‑centred engineering

Current and upcoming events
- Amplify Impact Challenge - Teams of 3-6 will compete to have the best 3D printed design to win a trip to the Alpine F1 Factory!
- Chapter Design Challenge - Compete against other UK university chapters to create the best innovative idea on how to improve an area. The prize from this would be £250 towards our society which would help fund the events that you can attend!
- Fortnightly, we will be hosting group study sessions, get togethers with other engineering based societies and other small socialising and networking events to get you meeting more people and having fun.
