Got any questions about the Society Accreditation Scheme?
Check out the list of FAQs below for further information about the Society Accreditation Scheme. If you can't find what you're looking for, forward your query to the Academic Engagement team at societies@hertssu.com.
What is the Society Accreditation Scheme and who can participate?
The Society Accreditation Scheme is all about giving society committees a chance to show off their hard work by earning Bronze, Silver or Gold badges. It highlights how active and engaged your group is on campus!
Starting this year, you can choose from a variety of tasks—like organising events, partnering with other societies or launching sustainability projects. Each task you complete scores you one point. Gather 5 points for a Bronze badge, 10 points for Silver and 15 points for Gold.
You get to pick tasks that fit your society best, which helps boost your visibility and gives you skills you can be proud of!
How does the scheme benefit your society?
Participating in the scheme can help your society grow by demonstrating how active and engaged you are. It’s also a great way to promote your society, attract new members and gain recognition. Your society’s achievements will be showcased through the SU's LinkedIn and Instagram channels and on your society’s webpage - you can proudly display your accreditation on LinkedIn too!
What are the benefits of earning a badge?
Along with a webpage banner displaying your achievement, you’ll also receive:
- • Bronze: £25 towards a society item, plus Committee Member Lanyards
- • Silver: £50 towards an item, along with free entry for the Committee to an SU event
- • Gold: £75 towards an item, and the same event entry benefit
How can we prove that we've completed tasks?
Some tasks, like Committee Training, are automatically verified without any need for submission. For the Societies Accreditation Scheme, you’ll need to submit evidence such as photos, videos or screenshots. If you're unsure how to provide proof for a specific task, don’t hesitate to contact us at societies@hertssu.com for guidance.
Where & when do I send my evidence?
Once you’ve completed all the tasks for a particular accreditation level, fill out the Society Accreditation Scheme form, attaching any supporting documentation. You can submit your application at any time, so send it in as soon as you're ready!
What if we can't complete a specific task?
If you run into a task that doesn’t quite work for your society, don’t worry! We can adjust certain tasks to fit your needs. Just reach out to us at societies@hertssu.com, and we’ll take a look at your request and help you find a solution that works.
