"Your Voice, Our Community: Let’s Make Herts Feel Like Home"
Hi everyone! I’m Hareethha, and I’m running to be your International Students' Officer. Being an international student myself, I know firsthand what it’s like to arrive in a new country, face unexpected challenges, and try to find your place in a big community. My goal is simple: to help every international student at Herts feel seen, supported, and truly at home.
Why I’m Running
I know that studying abroad is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming and lonely at times. I’m running because I believe we can make Herts a place where every international student feels included, understood, and able to thrive. I want to be someone you can turn to if you need help, someone who listens, and someone who takes real action to make things better.
What I’ll Do as Your International Students' Officer
Listening to You and Taking Action
I’ll hold regular feedback sessions where you can openly share what’s working and what isn’t. Whether it's academic stress, visa concerns, or just adjusting to life in the UK, I’ll make sure your experiences are brought directly to university leaders. I’ll attend every meeting I can with university committees, Student Council, SU Board of Trustees , so your voices are represented in the decisions that affect us all.
Creating a Stronger International Community
I’ll organize two big initiatives each year to bring international students together, focusing on things we all need, like career guidance, mental health support, or just a fun night of cultural celebration.
I want these events to feel genuinely welcoming and accessible, a chance to meet new people, make friends, and build connections that last.
Supporting You Through Every Step of Your Journey
I’ll work with the Students’ Union and university staff to ensure that resources for international students are easy to find and actually helpful, whether it’s academic support, housing advice, or job-seeking help.
Through social media and official channels, I’ll keep you updated on everything from key events to essential resources so you never miss out on opportunities to make the most of your time here.
Being Present and Ready to Help
You’ll see me at major events Freshers, Open Days, International Arrivals there to welcome you and answer questions. If you need support, I’ll be right there, visible and available, from your first day at Herts to your last.
Why I’m the Right Fit for This Role
I’m passionate about making sure no one at Herts feels left out or unheard. My background in student advocacy means I know how to push for real change, and my personal experience as an international student gives me insight into the support and resources that truly make a difference.
So, if you want a representative who’s here to listen, act, and bring our international community closer, I’d be honored to have your vote. Let’s work together to make Herts feel like a home away from home, where every voice matters.
Vote Hareethha Vellaichammy Suresh Babu for International Students' Officer - because together, we can make Herts even better.
