Good day all, my name is 'Tosin Jibodu but i go by Tee Jay!

I officially nominate myself to become the Lead Student Representative for black students at this prestigious university.

If elected, i aim to achieve the following:

Firstly, i intend to organise at least three events creating awareness around mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and academic burnout. For black students, these issues are mainly compounded due to experiences such as isolation, high expectations from family and community, systemic barriers, cultural shock and lack of representation and support. Even though i have a professional background in Law, i selected a Post Graduate study in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management because i am passionate and highly driven about making an impact in the Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management industry. I will be manifesting my experience in Project Management and also Event Management to achieve this objective.

Secondly, i recognise the importance of fostering a strong community bond amongst black students. I intend to create a specialised online platform where African students including, but not limited to, African or Carribean populations and people of African or Carribbean descent can connect, share experiences and ideas, host social events and also support each other. This will help encourage a sense of belonging amongst black students which will ultimately eliminate loneliness.

Finally and more importantly, i plan to provide academic support that suits the needs of black students. This includes providing workshops and seminars to address the special issues that black students may encounter. Also, providing tutrorial classes and summary classes for proper understanding of lectorials, presentations and assignments.

I intend to work with as many societies under the Herts Student Union as possible, to ensure that my objectives are achieved. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for black students, ensuring our voices are heard and our needs are fufilled while enjoying a wonderful experience on campus!

I sincerely appreciate your support and i am looking forward to serving you!

Thank you.
