Chioma Rita Chukwujekwu
MSc Mental Health Nursing Student
As a dedicated MSc student in Mental Health Nursing and a daily commuter to the University of Hertfordshire, I understand the unique challenges commuting students face, from balancing study commitments and travel to ensuring mental well-being. I am committed to using this role to foster an inclusive, supportive, and empowering experience for all commuting students.
MY VISION
1. Enhanced Resources and Support
- Establish a robust support system for commuting students that includes access to resources for study, rest, and personal development.
- Push for better access to campus facilities for commuters, ensuring spaces for quiet study, rest, and socialization.
2. Flexible and Accessible Learning
- Advocate for increased accessibility to online learning resources, recorded lectures, and flexible scheduling options to accommodate commuting students’ varied timetables.
3. Mental Health and Well-Being Initiatives
- Launch initiatives that support the mental health and well-being of commuting students, such as regular well-being check-ins, accessible counseling sessions, and stress-relief activities specifically catered to those balancing commuting and academic pressures.
4. Improved Transportation and Parking
- Work closely with transportation authorities and the university to explore discounts for public transport, better parking options, and potentially subsidized costs for commuting students.
5. Building a Community of Commuters
- Establish a network where commuting students can connect, support, and share resources, ensuring that no commuter feels isolated or unsupported in their university journey.
