As a candidate for the position of Black student officer, I stand before you with a promise and commitment to amplify, implement and be the advocate for the experiences and needs of the Black students within the student union. My vision is is rooted in the priniples of inclusion, visibility, equity, empowerment, amongst others and I believe that as your representative, and with your support, we can create an envrionment where we are seen, heard and supported. 

My Core Values

1. Adequate representation: I will serve as a dedicated advocate for the Black students in this community, ensuring that our concerns, ideas, and perspectives are represented at all decisiopn making levels. I will actively interact with students, faculty and management to highlight and address the issues that affect us. 

2. Community: I will create a community where Black students are able to meet, communicate and collaborate to create long-lasting meaningful friendships, networking and impact, and  express ourselves and celebrate our culture and varied experiences. 

3. Academic support: I will meet with the Black students to find out how we may be struggling academically and figure out ways in which the school can support us and make our academic experiences fulfilling and worthwhile. I will also discuss ways in which we can have better opportunities and experiences whether we have academic struggles or not. 

4. Cultural Awareness: Our culture is an important aspect of our lives and so I will ensure that there is an inclusion and adequate representation to showcase and celecbrate this, especially during the Black History month. This will include planning various activities that matter to the Black students where we can celebrate oour culture and learn from other cultures while educating the larger student body sbout our culture. 

Goals and Initiatives

1. Establish a Black student community where we can gather, share experiences and organize events that promote our culture and needs. 

2. Periodic meetings where Black students are able to voice their concerns, share ideas and collaborate to positively impact our community and the larger student union. 

3. Awareness Campaigns to raise awarenss about issues affecting Black students. 

I am committed to being a true representative of the Black students and ensuring our experiences are valued and acknowledged. Together we can create a more inclusive environment for Black students to thrive.
