LGBT+ Society @ London Pride 2023 - Wristband Deposit

Saturday 01 July 2023

9am - 9pm

London

We’re delighted to have been accepted to take part in London Pride 2023 with  the EDI Team, the LGBTQ+ Staff Network and our UNO rainbow bus and look forward to celebrating with everyone!

As a subset of the wider UH delagation at London Pride, the LGBT+ society have a limited number of wristbands to give away. Therefore, to minimise the risk of No Shows we have elected to hold a first-come, first-served ticket portal in order for our members to put their names down.  Since we  have a very limted number of wristbands we will be utilising a deposit scheme, where even though the university is paying for the wristbands, we will be charging £3 in return for an LGBT+ Society Exclusive Pride Pack which will be given away to those who come with us to pride.

London Pride Rules

London Pride has over 500 groups and 30,000+ participants marching and as such has strict rules and guidelines that all group members must agree to follow. Failure to adhere to these may result in our group being refused entry on the day and being forbidden to attend in future years.
By taking part in the London Pride University group, you agree to commit to the requirements below:
1. Not consume any alcohol prior to or during the parade.
2. Not bring any form of stickers or balloons.
3. Not hand out any materials to spectators during the parade.
4. Only use biodegradable body glitter (if you wish to use glitter).
5. Not bring any glass in your bag, as we may be subject to bag searches.
6. Arrive on time to the group meeting point (time tbc), otherwise we risk beingrefused entry

Requirements for all London Pride parade group members
All group members must be available on Saturday 1 July for the full day.

Before the parade
The exact timings and meeting point for the day will be confirmed once we receive more information from the London Pride team. You must arrive promptly at the specified meeting point in London near Hyde Park to receive your wristband, t-shirt and further instruction from the group leaders. Before entering the parade, we will be taken to a waiting area to join our bus, with toilets, food and water facilities.

During the parade
You can see the route from Hyde Park Corner, via Piccadilly Circus ending near Trafalgar Square here.
You may either walk in front of the bus or sit and ride the bus. Once the parade is in motion, no one must leave or enter the bus until the end of the parade. The parade route is approx. 1.2 miles long and will take approx. 1 hour from start to finish. There will be no access to toilet facilities on the route.

If you have a question around accessibility, check out their information here or get in touch with us and we can pass any queires onto the EDI Team.
Please bear in mind that London will be very busy – in 2022 it’s estimated more than 1.5 million people attended, so it is a loud and crowded event and can feel overwhelming at times.

We are looking forward to celebrating with you all!

Open to Uni of Herts students and staff with a valid ticket. Please note that tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. View the full Terms & Conditions here
