LOOK AFTER YOURSELF AT UNI WITH THE AMY WINEHOUSE FOUNDATION
Join us as we chat to Joe from The Amy Winehouse Foundation to discuss the importance of looking after yourself while at Uni.
University can be a tricky time, especially in the first few months. Your SU is here to support you every step of the way. The talk will cover underlying issues that can contribute towards substance use including self-esteem and peer pressure, alongside focusing on issues of social media, body image and 'fitting in' to society's 'norm.' We discuss the individual speaker's life, addiction and recovery in addition to coping mechanisms to better manage wellbeing. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions.
This session is a great way to prepare yourself for the challenges university poses as well as finding out how you can support any friends who may be experiencing difficult times.

What is the Amy Winehouse Foundation?
Since 2011, the Amy Winehouse Foundation has established itself as one of the UK’s leading charities working with young people. Everything the Amy Winehouse Foundation do is designed to build meaningful connections with the children and young people they work with – to form relationships that foster hope and optimism. They do so in three ways:
- Co-production – working with beneficiaries to understand how and what support currently exists and what is needed.
- Collaboration – working with other charities and organisations to develop new approaches.
- Sharing lived experience – over 90% of our employees and volunteers have had similar challenges to the children and young people they work with. By providing genuine examples of overcoming adversity in their own lives, peer workers can inspire empowerment and self-determination.
