GENERAL

  • What is the Students’ Union?

    When you enrol at the Uni of Herts, you don't just join the uni, you also become a member of Herts SU. That's us! We're here to support you on your student journey and make sure it's the best it can be. We run a number of services that you can benefit from throughout your time at uni. You can build friendships and make memories with societies, at events and in our nightclub (The Forum Hertfordshire). You can have your say on your uni experience by sharing your feedback with Elected Officers, School Community Organisers & Student Reps, as well as completing surveys and attending focus groups. You can lean on us when you need a hand with our Advice & Support team. Keep your eyes out around campus for the bright pink and make sure you get involved where you can!

  • What is Freshers Week?

    Freshers Week takes at the beginning of the new academic year every year. This usually falls during the last week of September! It's essentially a week packed full of events, freebies, back-to-back clubnights, opportunities to mingle with other students and more! You can find the full Freshers Week programme of events here

  • Can I work at the Students’ Union?

    We're lucky to have a huge team of student staff here at the SU who help us to deliver a high quality service. Throughout the year we have lots of different positions available, from Assistant Graphic Designers to Welcome Desk Assistants and Events Assistants to Forum Venue Staff.   • When are the Welcome Desks open?

    We have a Welcome Desk on both campuses. Both open from 10AM – 4PM, Monday to Friday

  • Will I need a ticket to attend?

    You will need tickets for all nightclub events. You can purchase these by clicking onto the events of your choice here

  • How can I find out what nightclub events are taking place?

  • Where can I buy tickets?

    You can purchase tickets online here or at one of our Welcome Desks (College Lane or De Hav)

  • I can't come to an event anymore. Can I get a refund?

    Unfortunately, all tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No refunds can be issued for incorrectly purchased tickets

  • Tickets have sold out online! Can I buy tickets on the door?

    We cannot guarantee tickets being available on the door due to how quickly they are purchased online. It is best to keep an eye out for ticket announcements and purchase ahead of the event. Follow @forumhertfordshire on Instagram for live updates

  • Where do I pick up my Freshers Week Wristband?

    Freshers Week Wristbands can be collected outside of The Oval on Saturday 23rd September & Sunday 24th September from 10am - 5pm. You can find all the details here

  • What happens if I lose or remove my Freshers Week Wristband?

    If you lose your wristband you may not gain entry to the remaining events and could be charged for each one you want to attend. If your wristband comes off you must hold onto it and return it so we can provide you with a replacement

  • I can't remember what tickets I've bought! Where can I find them?

    You can find your tickets by heading into your account and checking your 'Purchase History'

  • Can I still get involved with Freshers Week events if I don’t enjoy clubbing?

    Absolutely! Freshers Week is for everybody and about more than just partying! We have a whole range of day-time events that you can take part in. From Global Lounge to the Super Series, One World Day to Welcome Fest, there's something to everyone's taste. You can view our full Freshers Week programme of events here

  • Are Freshers Week events just for campus-based students?

    No! Our Freshers Week programme has been designed to accommodate the maximum number of students possible. We're running events at a wide range of times so that everyone can dip into something over the course of the week. The uni has a free shuttle bus that will regularly run you between each campus and our day-time events finish in good time to make sure you can travel home comfortably on public or personal transport

  • Will I need a ticket to attend?

    For some events you will require a ticket to attend, while others enable you to pop along and get involved free of charge. Each event will indicate whether a ticket is needed or not, so be sure to check each one you wish to attend. Tickets always sell out quickly so be sure to secure yours whilst you can!   • Are any events free to attend?

    Yes! We understand the current Cost of Living crisis is challenging for everyone and we don't want this to be a barrier. Events that are free to attend include Speed Friending, Fun And Games, 1-2-3 Paint, Mix and Mingle, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, De Havilland Welcome Fair, Outdoor Cinema, Welcome Fest, Colour Run, Super Series, Aerobics Mega Class, One World Day, SU Market and Freshers Fair

     

  • OPPORTUNITIES AT HERTS

  • What is a society?

    Societies are like mini communities that bring together students with similar interests. Joining a society is a great way to make friends who you can share your uni experience with! With societies ranging from academic and cultural to faith and social, there's something for everyone. Check out our full list of societies here

  • How can I join a society?

    You can view all our societies and join the ones you like the look of here. You can also buy society memberships at Freshers Fair and either of our Welcome Desks (College Lane or De Hav)

  • Can I try a society out before committing to a membership?

    Absolutely! From Monday 2nd October - Friday 13th October many of our societies will be running Society Taster Sessions, meaning you can try before you buy. During this time you'll be able to attend their events & socials without a membership. Once the Society Taster weeks are up, you'll then get to decide which societies you buy a membership for without having to commit to all of them. Societies will display their taster events here, so keep your eyes peeled nearer the time to find out what you can get involved with for free!

  • Where do I go if I need help?

    Our Advice & Support team offer free, confidential and impartial advice for students here at Herts. They're here for you no matter how big or small your problem may feel during your time at uni. If you'd like to discuss anything with our Advice & Support team, or simply want someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to speak to one of our Academic & Welfare Advisors.   • STUDENT REPRESENTATION

  • What is a Student Rep?

    Student Reps are the student voice in their course, highlighting any academic issues students are experiencing. Student Reps collect feedback from their coursemates, communicating it to University and SU staff to make sure it's resolved

  • What is a School Community Organiser?

    School Community Organisers (SCOs) are paid student leaders who represent the interests of students in their School of Study. SCOs collect student feedback and make sure that it's communicated to University and SU staff, working alongside Student Reps to identify issues students are facing. SCOs also organise events throughout the year, from social get togethers to academic and networking opportunities!

  • What do the Elected Officers do?

    The Elected Officers are here to represent you across all areas of student life. The team is made up of 1 Full-Time Officer and 9 Part-Time Officers, all collecting and elevating feedback across different pockets of the uni. They work alongside our team of staff at the SU, making sure the student voice is taken all the way to the top. With the goal of improving the student experience here at Herts, they implement new ideas and campaign for change according to student feedback.   • What's Student Council?

    Student Council is an open forum between students and the SU. It gives you the chance to hear what's happening behind the scenes, approve new ideas or policies, put forward suggestions and hold the Elected Officers to account. We run 5 or 6 meetings each year so make sure you pop along when you can to have your say and shape policy at Herts
