Making a difference in a student life is a great opportunity. The role is flexible and gives you the chance to work with students at the University of Hertfordshire.
We are looking for Practical Support Assistants and Note takers to support students who require physical notes to be taken on their behalf due to physical impairment, health conditions or a learning disability. You will be required to attend university lectures / seminars to take notes, or support may be helping students around campus.
The role is based at the University of Hertfordshire and is to start in September for the academic year 2016/2017. You will be working in the following postcodes:
 The pay rate is £7.36 - £10 per hour.
There are no set or guaranteed hours so the role suits someone who is looking for flexibility.
You will be registered with Randstad on a Contract for Services. Work is part time and flexible (generally during term-time) depending on your own availability and the requirements of the students and university / college disability service.
Personal Attributes:
•       Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with student(s)
•       Must be able to organise and manage fluctuating workloads
•       Flexibility to meet the needs of the student
•       Punctual, timely and reliable
•       Commit to working with a student for a full academic year
Responsibilities:
•       To produce an accurate and legible handwritten record of lectures, seminars, discussions in the student’s preferred format
•       To act in the best interests of learners at all times whilst also working within the policies and procedures of the institution
•       To develop individual opportunities for each learner to lead a more independent life
•       To follow agreed recording and reporting system in a timely manner
•       To ensure learner confidentiality, dignity and respect is maintained at all times
Requirements:
•       Educated to degree level
•       Have neat handwriting and able to present notes in a legible and presentable manner
•       Accurate spelling and grammar
•       Excellent organisation and communication skills
•       You will need to be able to work quickly and under time restrictions
•       Experience of working with disabled individuals is desirable
•       Awareness of Safeguarding and suitable to work with learners 16+
