Welcome to the Geography, Environment and Planning Society!

Who are we and what do we do?

We are the Geography, Environment and Planning Society and we are an integrated and inclusive community that provides a range of events and opportunities for anyone interested in the built and natural environment, human influences and climate change.

What are our objectives for the year?

This year we plan to host more outdoor activities and weekend trips such as walks at Bayfordbury, urban/beach cleans and hiking weekends. We will be continuing our weekly coffee socials as well as introducing trips to the Elehouse and wine tasting with the Dean. The highlight of the year will be the end of year ball which we hosted last year at Knebworth House on behalf of the School of LMS!

Why should you join our society?

We welcome all those with an interest in the planet, its population and the environment, whether you already know lots and just want to stay informed/chat to like-minded people or whether you are hoping to learn more/become more inspired! Membership is open to everyone, whether you study geography or not, we aim to provide a wide variety of activities, both academic and social for you to meet new people and have a laugh. We always welcome ideas for events you would like to see!

Meet your committee for 2023-2024:

Hello! We are the new committee members of GEPsoc 2023-2024.

Hey, I'm Archie and I'm the new Chair for GEPsoc. It is important to me that our society can offer new events, as well as the amazing ones we have had in the past. We want GEPsoc to be as inclusive as possible so everyone feels welcome to our amazing society.

Hi, my name is Heidi and I am the new secretary for the GEP society. Whilst studying in my second year, my aim is to communicate with members regularly about upcoming GEPsoc events, as well as arranging opportunities for members to participate in social activities relating to geography, environment and planning, alongside my fellow committee members.

Hi I’m Lottie, a 3rd year Physical Geography PhD student and your new Treasurer for this year! I’m looking forward to meeting you all in fresher’s week and to planning some fun events!
