Hertfordshire Bar Society will provide invaluable insight into the Bar, including the benefits and challenges of the profession and how barristers work in collaboration with solicitors. We aim to bring together students that have an interest in the law and want to learn more about the role of barristers within the legal profession. We also aim to help aspiring barristers fulfil their career ambitions.

This Society has something to offer all interested in a career within the legal profession, regardless of the route they intend to pursue. From helping members to grasp the bespoke legal terminology often used at the Bar to understanding more about the Inns of Court and Chambers, we will ensure the society offers an inclusive and friendly community where all are comfortable to raise any Bar-related queries they may have!

For aspiring barristers, we will offer support and advice and aim to create an environment where the Bar feels accessible for Herts students, enabling aspiring barristers to have a stable footing as they embark on their careers surrounded by a supportive and encouraging network of like-minded peers.

For those aspiring to other legal professions, we will offer the opportunity for them to make connections with barristers, which will be a huge benefit when in practice and attractive to law firms.

The society will also enhance understanding of the English Legal System, and active participation will have the potential to benefit the academic success of our members.

We will host insightful talks with a range of guest speakers, from future pupil barristers to silks and everyone in between! We will have regular social activities and trips to Courts, Inns and Chambers. There will be networking events where members will get to meet and form connections with both their peers and practising barristers.
