The SRI LANKAN SOCIETY at the UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE is a nurturing and inclusive community that honors the diverse culture, heritage, and traditions of Sri Lanka. We strive to create a friendly atmosphere for all Sri Lankan students and those interested in exploring our culture, fostering friendships, and engaging in meaningful cultural exchanges.
Our society organizes a variety of cultural events, including festivals, food fairs, social gatherings, and language workshops, while also celebrating significant Sri Lankan occasions such as Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Vesak, Christmas, Ramadan, and more. These activities help us cultivate a sense of belonging and share our customs with friends from various backgrounds.
A key objective of our society is to assist Sri Lankan students at the University of Hertfordshire in overcoming any challenges they may encounter. Whether it involves adapting to university life, managing academic stress, finding housing, or addressing personal issues, we provide guidance and support, establishing a network for students who are away from home. Our Executive Board and members are always available to listen and offer help, promoting a sense of community and unity.
Additionally, we offer academic and career support through the organization of study groups, networking events, and career workshops, enabling students to thrive in their studies and achieve their professional aspirations.
If you wish to connect with your roots, make new friends, or learn more about Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Society at the University of Hertfordshire is here to welcome and support you. Join us to experience the warmth, community spirit, and vibrant culture of Sri Lanka.
