We employ a dynamic, committed and vibrant team of staff, enabling us to help students love life at Herts. We're hugely proud of our staff team who you can see below. They support the Elected Officer team and are in turn supported by a large team of student staff. On this page you can get to know each of our staff members a little more!

 

Senior Management

The Senior Management team takes the lead on strategic decisions for the SU. They oversee all of the departments, ensuring we're working towards the goals of the organisation, all the while championing our HERTS values

Rebecca

Rebecca (She/Her)

Chief Executive Officer

Rebecca is responsible for ensuring the strategic objectives of the SU are achieved in line with the vision and values agreed by our Board of Trustees. Rebecca is a key player in managing our relations with stakeholders like the Uni of Herts, the local community and counterparts across the UK

Sean (He/Him)

Director of Community Operations

As Director of Community Operations, Sean oversees our Commercial, Community Events & Marketing teams. In addition to supporting our commercial, events and marketing functions, he leads on all things health & safety at Herts SU. He also works closely with key stakeholders to ensure our relationships remain strong for the benefit of students


Leena

Director of People and Resources

Leena oversees our Finance and HR teams. She makes sure our recruitment runs smoothly, our staff members are well looked after and our organisation meets all legal & professional standards required. She provides support for our finance function, making sure our finances are where they should be


Phill

Phill (He/Him)

Director of Advocacy and Opportunities

As Director of Student Services, Phill oversees the management of the Academic Experience, Advice & Support and Insight teams. He also supports the Elected Officers to ensure students are represented effectively, both academically and non-academically

 

Academic Experience

Our Academic Experience team works hard to represent the academic interests of students and provide them with a range of opportunities to enhance their employability. They support our academic societies and more than a thousand student leaders! They also lead all things student representation

Academic Experience Manager

As our Academic Experience Manager, Rhi oversees all things student representation here at Herts SU. In addition to supporting our academic societies, her team looks after our Peer Mentors, School Community Organisers and Student Reps. Rhi is also heavily involved in our annual Elections and Bye-Elections

Peer Mentor Coordinator

Emma oversees our brand new Peer Mentor Scheme, facilitating a huge peer-to-peer support network for students in the School of Creative Arts and Law School

Academic Experience Coordinator

Alice looks after all things academic representation in the School of Health & Social Work and the School of Life & Medical Sciences. She supports the academic societies and student leaders within these schools, encouraging them to come together and drive the changes they want to see

Senior Academic Experience Coordinator

Ella takes care of all things academic representation in the School of Creative Arts and the School of Physics, Engineering & Computer Science. She supports our academic societies and student leaders within these schools, empowering them to come together and drive changes they want to see. On top of this, Ella is responsible for Student Council

 

Advice & Support

Our Advice & Support team provide students with free, confidential and impartial advice. They're on hand to support students throughout their time at Herts, whether they need to turn to us for academic or non-academic advice

Faith oversees the smooth running of both the Advice and Insight departments, ensuring our Advice & Support service is delivered to the highest standard and that our comprehensive portfolio of research projects packs the most punch to improve the student experience

Steph is responsible for the smooth running of our Advice & Support Centre. In addition to making sure our service continues to run at a high standard, Steph provides advice and support to students on a range of academic and non-academic issues

Academic & Welfare Adviser

Saj is one of our Academic & Welfare Advisers. He provides advice and support to students on a range of academic and non-academic issues. Lots of students that use this service will see Saj, whether they reach out for support online or by popping into our Advice & Support Centre

 

Commercial

A world class entertainments venue, The Forum Hertfordshire is our on-campus nightclub. While our Commercial team push boundaries with their innovative clubnights, at the heart of their operation is ensuring students can enjoy a night out in a venue that prioritises their safety

Jon

Operations Manager

Jon manages The Forum Hertfordshire. His role includes overseeing all aspects of bar operation and entertainment/event management. Events that fall within Jon's remit includes Freshers' Week, Summer Ball and all the weekly nighttime events that happen in between. Jon also takes the lead on the promotion of all commercial events.

Deputy Operations Manager

As our Deputy Operations Manager, Monica ensures our clubnights run smoothly. She trains and supports nearly 100 student staff members in a range of roles, ensuring the venue always delivers a high standard. She also oversees our private hires function, which ranges from university bookings to corporate events and birthday parties

Our Assistant Bar and Events Manager's primary responsibility is to manage clubnights at The Forum Hertfordshire

The Community Events team produce and deliver an extensive daytime programme of activities, events and trips throughout the year for students to get involved in. They also empower students by helping them bring their own events to life! On top of all the amazing events they run and support, they look after our societies

Community Events Manager

The Community Events Manager oversees our huge events provision and ensures its success. Jessi makes sure that all our events, big and small, have the resources and support they need. Her team has a huge role to play in not only bringing both campuses to life, but bringing students together too

As our Assistant Community Events Manager, Megan supports the team with our events provision. She also oversees the Welcome Desks we have on both campuses, ensuring they serve students in the most efficient and effective way

Izzy takes the lead on many of our larger events (like Freshers and the Students' Union Awards), as well as those that foster inclusivity here at Herts (like Black History Month and LGBT+ History Month). She makes sure our events programme appeals to lots of different types of students

Jayce helps the team with the curation and delivery of our events programme. He also supports students, student leaders and student groups in bringing their event ideas to life

As a Community Engagement Assistant, Tina is one of the first staff members you'll see when visiting our offices! She is much more than just a friendly face, she ensures the smooth running of our Welcome Desks. This extends to our online outlets, including our main inbox and our live chat here on the website

Societies Coordinator

Eva is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the Union’s student groups, providing administration and operational support, ensuring student-led activities and events are engaging and high quality. Eva is the main point of contact for networks, as well as all active, cultural, faith and social societies, working closely with them throughout the year to ensure their success.

Our Insight team makes sure student feedback informs everything we do. They gather feedback from students in a number of ways, including focus groups, interviews & surveys. They make recommendations to both internal and external (uni) departments based on everything they're hearing

Insight Assistant Manager

Arub is responsible for the curation and analysis of our research projects, from focus groups through to surveys. Her team analyses data throughout the year and provides us with recommendations, including areas that may need campaign attention and services that may need improvement

As one of our Graduate Data Analysts, Motola covers a range of research functions to help ensure the SU is truly student-led. In addition to doing lots of number crunching behind-the-scenes, he supports the team with their feedback collection out on the ground

Graduate Data Analyst

As one of our Graduate Data Analysts, Muhammad covers a range of research functions to help ensure we are truly student-led in all that we do. In addition to doing lots of behind-the-scenes number crunching, he helps the team in collecting feedback out on the ground

 

Finance

Our Finance department oversees all of the SU's financial activity. They handle all internal and external payments, as well as making sure all staff - permanent and casual - are remunerated

Finance Manager

Maria manages our Finance team, ensuring the SU remains within our budget and our finance processes run smoothly. Her team manages everything from accounts and audits through to payroll runs and stock control


Jill

Senior Finance Assistant & Payroll

Jill's role includes processing the monthly payroll for both career staff and student staff. She also deals with holiday pay, Auto Enrolment, HMRC submissions and Gender Pay Gap reporting. On top of all this, Jill supports the team with wider finance functions


 

Cheryl

Finance Assistant & Accounts

Cheryl prepares our monthly management accounts, reconciles balance sheet controls, processes internal transfers, assists in annual budgets and subsequent forecasting for the remainder of the year, maintains the fixed asset register, prepares year end audit schedules and ad hoc analysis reports as required

 

Human Resources

Our HR department takes care of all staff employed by the SU. They make sure our staff - career and student - are well looked after, from recruitment through to retention

Training and Development Manager

As our Training and Development Manager, Libby makes sure everyone that works for Herts SU has access to resources that will accelerate their personal & professional development. She ensures everyone has the support they need to be able to fulfil their roles and be successful in their career paths

HR Assistant

Kc oversees all of our recruitment, both for career staff and student staff. She ensures relevant training opportunities are shared with staff members and supports us with completion. She also helps the team with wider HR functions

Rimsha

Lead Officer Coordinator

Rimsha supports our Elected Officer team throughout the year as they work hard to represent our diverse student population. As the Elected Officer Support Lead, she is responsible for all things onboarding, training and day-to-day support

President

Rohit is our President. Successfully elected by his peers last year, he'll be leading the Elected Officer team for the 2024-25 academic year. He is a key voice in the room at senior university meetings and, while his remit is fairly holistic, he has a real focus on the academic experience here at Herts

 

Marketing

The Marketing team works hard to ensure that the SU is promoted far and wide, raising our profile and encouraging student engagement. They oversee everything from branding and communications through to socials and website

Our Creative Content Producer curates and manages our photography & videography. Lambert's work is used across all our channels, from digital screens and email through to TikTok and website!

Graphic Designer

Yohanna is responsible for creating all artwork needed by the SU. Whether we need animated designs for socials, graphics for printed materials or artwork for merchandise and signage, Yohanna is our girl!

Chloe essentially does all things comms for us! In addition to curating and delivering our comms across a range of platforms (like emails, social media & website), Chloe supports the team with innovative ideas for our content, the delivery of our outreach programme and the execution of our media sales
