Career Staff Opportunities
Bar Manager
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Bar Manager to take ownership of the EleHouse, the Students’ Union’s unique bar and social venue at the University of Hertfordshire. The EleHouse has recently reopened following a nearly two-year hiatus and has undergone extensive refurbishment, creating an exciting opportunity to shape its future. We’re looking for someone who wants to make the venue a central part of university life and build something students, staff and visitors are proud to be part of.
This isn’t just a job running a bar. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and a university community. You’ll work closely with students, societies, sports teams and staff, creating a welcoming, fun and vibrant environment. You’ll have real ownership of the venue, with the freedom to be creative, develop ideas and improve the customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have bar or hospitality management experience and be confident leading a team. More importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic, proactive, organised and willing to get involved. You’ll enjoy the energy of working alongside students, sports teams, societies and events.

Private Hire and Venue Coordinator
We are looking for a highly organised, customer focused Private Hire and Venue Coordinator, to help us grow our private hire activity. We are looking for someone who will support with enquiries, bookings, sourcing new business, and event delivery. We host a variety of events such as birthday celebrations, bat/bar mitzvahs, Christmas parties, corporate conferences, networking events, award dinners, and everything in between. Every day will be different in this role, and you will coordinate every stage of the customer journey from initial enquiry through to event delivery. We are looking for someone commercially minded, and who has the nature ability to build rapport with a wide range of customers. The ideal candidate should be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and memorable event experiences. Be highly organised, remail calm under pressure, and be motivated by achieving results. This newly created role is a fantastic opportunity to work on, and take ownership of, a broad scope of events, and generate vital income to support the Student Union’s charitable mission.

Learning and Development Adviser
We are recruiting for a Learning and Development Adviser to join our People Team here at Herts SU. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering helpful, engaging, inclusive and accessible learning and development programmes for our colleagues across the Students’ Union. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about developing people, who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences and wants to make a meaningful difference to colleagues’ working lives. If you are enthusiastic about learning, people and creating opportunities for others to grow, we’d love to hear from you.

We are recruiting for an Academic Experience Assistant to join the SU Academic Experience Team!!! In this role, you’ll get to deliver strong student representation, democratic engagement and provide a high-quality service for our student community. The candidate will work closely with Student Reps and student leaders, helping them thrive in their role and maintaining clear communication throughout the year!
