Career Staff Opportunities
Payroll and Finance Assistant
Herts SU is looking for an experienced Payroll & Finance Assistant to join our Finance team, keeping the money side of a busy, student-led charity accurate, compliant and running smoothly.
You’ll be the go-to person for payroll and day-to-day finance, from paying staff and suppliers to supporting student societies with their finance. It’s a varied role where your work makes a real difference to the services students rely on.
AAT qualification is essential. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant finance experience, so it isn’t suitable for students or new graduates. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK as Herts SU is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Recruitment Timeline: Application closes 21st October 2026 and interviews are scheduled for 26th October 2026, with a start date of 1st December 2026.
Representation Coordinator
Do you believe students should have a real say in their university experience? Do you get a buzz from watching a nervous first-time leader grow into a confident changemaker?
Herts SU is looking for a Representation Coordinator to lead our School and Student Community Organiser (SCO) program, the student leaders who make sure every voice at Herts is heard and acted upon. Do you have experience in a Students’ Union, higher education, charity or membership organisation? Are you committed to equality, diversity and inclusion? With excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, university staff and other stakeholders? Then we would love to hear from you?. This role is not suitable for students; please apply if you can commit to the full contracted hours. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Recruitment Timeline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so the role may close early. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Interviews are scheduled for 6th of November 2026.
Insight Coordinator
Are you passionate about research, data and making a difference? We are recruiting for an Insight Coordinator to join Herts SU. You’ll play a key role in turning data into insight and insight into impact. You’ll help us understand what matters to our students and use that insight to shape the work we do. From designing surveys and focus groups to analysing engagement data and producing compelling reports and dashboards, you’ll have the opportunity to turn evidence into practical recommendations and influence organisational decision-making.

Insight Outreach Assistant
Love chatting to people and being involved on campus? As an Insight Outreach Assistant, you'll speak with students, collect feedback and help promote SU projects and campaigns. It's a flexible, sociable role that's perfect if you're friendly, proactive and keen to make a real impact on the student experience.
