Safety

Who can I talk to about accessibility?

We are a fully accessible venue with lift availability. Should you wish to discuss The Forum's accessibility further, please email contact@hertssu.com.

 

What should I do if I feel unwell at The Forum?

If feeling unwell, please make a member of staff aware. They will direct you to our medical team, located at the entrance corridor in Seventy7. Regardless of the cause of your ill health, our staff are fully trained to provide non-judgemental support. Your wellbeing is our utmost importance.

 

Someone at the venue is making me feel uncomfortable - what should I do?

Your safety and comfort during your visit to The Forum is our absolute priority. Should anyone make you feel uncomfortable at any time, please talk to any member of staff. We have fully trained teams on site who will be able to respond to your situation sensitively and appropriately. Additionally, you can Ask for Angela at any point. Our staff are fully trained to react accordingly.

Can I bring my prescription medicine or medical equipment to The Forum?

Yes – if you have any specific reasons for bringing prohibited items into the venue (for example, because you have a dietary or medical condition), please do. When you arrive onsite, please make security staff aware that you are bringing medical items in with you. For further information, check out our Conditions of Entry.

 

COVID-19

Do I need to take a test prior to each event I attend?

Yes, if you cannot produce a COVID Passport (more details below), you must now produce proof of a negative lateral flow test or PCR test within the past 48 hours. You must report this test here, you will then receive an email and text message. Please use these as proof upon entry

Even if you do have a COVID Passport, with the new variant we would ask that you do a test in advance for the safety of other attendees. Please make sure that the test results return negative before attending the event

Do I need to be fully vaccinated to attend The Forum?

From Wednesday 15th December, venues including The Forum will be checking that you are fully vaccinated by showing your NHS COVID Pass, have proof of a negative test in the last 48 hours or have a confirmed medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination or testing. There may be delays in entry to the venue, and we ask students to be patient as staff carry out checks. For more detailed info please click here

Are there COVID-19 safety measures in place at the venue?

We have risk assessed all our events to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep you safe. Measures may include increased ventilation, the wearing of face coverings, hand sanitising stations and limited capacities at events

 

I am concerned about COVID-19 - should I attend the event?

We will do what we can to support all students, including those that are vulnerable. Alongside our extra precautions, please feel empowered to take any extra measures that make you feel more comfortable. It is ultimately your choice

 

I'm awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test and currently self-isolating, can I attend an event?

Unfortunately not, no. Until the COVID-19 test results have returned negative and your isolation period has been completed, you cannot attend the venue. Please note with the new variant you are now on some occasions required to self-isolate no matter your vaccination status. You can find more information about self-isolating here

 

Do I need to wear a face covering in The Forum?

No, you do not need to wear a face covering in the venue. However, you can do so if you choose

Entry Conditions

What does the Challenge 25 Policy mean?

If you are lucky enough to look under the age of 25, you may be asked to show identification to prove your age to be granted entry to the venue for all events where age restrictions apply. For further information on the Challenge 25 policy, click here.

What is The Forum's Re-Entry Policy?

The Forum operates a no re-entry policy. Once you have left the venue, re-admittance will not be permitted.

 

Is there any items I cannot bring into the venue?

There is a full list of prohibited items on the Conditions of Entry. Please note, we operate a no liquids policy. This includes your own drinks, perfumes and vaping liquids.

 

What is The Forum's Drug Policy?

The Forum operates a strict zero tolerance drugs policy. Searches will be in operation and this is a condition of entry to the venue. Any customer concerned over any part of the search will be discussed individually and the process explained by staff. The customer can refuse and leave the venue at any point should they not wish to continue with the search. Anyone found in possession of illegal substances will be refused admission, ejected from the venue and may also be liable for prosecution. We reserve the right to pass your details to the relevant authorities should we consider an offence or criminal act has taken place.

 

When is last entry to The Forum's events?

Last entry into The Forum is 1am.

 

What form of ID do you accept?

We only accept a University of Hertfordshire Student ID, valid passport, foreign national ID cards, driving license or home office approved PASS hologram as identification and/or proof of age. If there is a name on your ticket, you must provide valid photographic ID to match this name. Please note that we cannot accept expired or out-of-date forms of ID. If you are not able to provide a valid and in-date form of ID, you may be refused entry on to the premises.

 

Can I still attend an event if I've lost my student ID?

Without valid student ID, you will be turned away from the venue unless you can provide your student number and a valid photo ID to match the name.

 

What is The Forum's Bag Policy?

We do not allow bags or rucksacks on site that are bigger than an A4 piece of paper (21cm x 30cm). We have cloakrooms on site that are available at a cost for smaller items and for storing personal items of clothing (coats, jackets). Please only bring essential items with you to the venue.

 

Can I bring my own food and drink to The Forum?

Unfortunately not. No food is sold within The Forum. We have a variety of drinks, alcohol and soft, that you can purchase.

 

Are there any prohibited items I'm not allowed to bring to The Forum?

For full list of prohibited items, check out our Conditions of Entry. We reserve the right to confiscate any prohibited items. Anyone found in possession of such items will be refused admission, ejected from the venue and may also be liable for prosecution. No refunds will be given to customers who are refused admission due to possession of prohibited items.

 

Tickets

How can I find out the set times for an event?

All information about our events can be found at /your-events.

 

How will I know if there are changes to an event at The Forum?

We will notify you of any event cancellation in good time. However, we cannot guarantee this will be in advance of the day of the event. This will be done via email and social media. If an event cannot take place or is delayed because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will not be liable for any direct or indirect losses incurred by you or your guests.

 

The event I have bought a ticket for has been cancelled - what do I do? Will I receive a refund?

We will look at this on a case-by-case basis. In all circumstances, we will endeavour to reorganise the event and you will be given the opportunity to attend the new date.

 

I am an Alumni. Can I attend an event?

Yes, you can. Alumni are classed as guests and will need to have a current student purchase a ticket on their behalf.

 

The event is sold out, can I still get a ticket? Or buy at the door?

We cannot guarantee tickets being available on the door due to how quickly they are purchased online. It is best to keep an eye out for ticket announcements and purchase ahead of the event. If there are tickets available on the door, they will be able to be purchased from midnight.

I can't find my student ID/email confirmation, what should I do?

Firstly, please double check that the ticket transaction has been completed fully. If it has, please give your student number on the door but this must then be matched to a valid photo ID. Full list of accepted photographic IDs can be found in Conditions of Entry.

 

Can I bring a non-student to the event?

On some events, guest ticket are available. Students will need to purchase a ticket on their behalf. They will be your responsibility to ensure they act appropriately throughout the event. Should they act inappropriately, you may also be banned from the venue.

 

I can't make the event now - can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, all tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No refunds can be issued for incorrectly purchased tickets.

 

Do all events have guest tickets available?

Some do! If guest tickets are available, they will be found under the ticket option for each event. If there is no option for guest ticket, they are unfortunately sold out.

 

Do I need a physical ticket to enter The Forum?

The majority of events, no. Your ticket will automatically go onto your Student ID. However, for some events, physical tickets are available. When purchasing physical copies, please make sure they feature the Hertfordshire Students' Union logo. If you have queries about purchasing, please email contact@hertssu.com.

 

I bought a ticket for an event but I can no longer attend, can my friend go in my place?

Unfortunately, all tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No refunds can be issued for incorrectly purchased tickets.

 

I bought a ticket for the wrong event, can it be transferred?

Unfortunately, all tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No refunds can be issued for incorrectly purchased tickets.

 

I forgot which ticket I purchased, is there a way for me to check this?

You can find your tickets by heading into your account and checking your 'Purchase History.’ You can do so by logging into the Hertfordshire Students’ Union website and clicking the orange icon. From there, you will find the ‘Purchase History’ tab.

 

I am having trouble purchasing a ticket on the website. What should I do?

Facilities

Can I pay by card at The Forum? Are there ATMs in the venue?

You can pay with both cash or card at The Forum. Although there is no ATMs in Seventy7 or The Loft, there is one located by the Box Office in The Forum.

 

Can I smoke or vape at The Forum?

Yes – you can smoke and vape within the designated areas. If you are caught smoking or vaping anywhere except for the designated outdoor smoking areas, you will be ejected from the venue without a refund.

 

Does The Forum have cloakroom facilities?

Yes! The Forum has cloakroom facilities that you can use for a small price. These are now cashless. Please note, items are left at your own risk.

 

I left my jacket in the cloakroom. When can I collect it?

If you have left something in the cloakroom, be sure to keep your ticket. Coats can be collected the next night The Forum is open at 9:50pm. If it is urgent, please email contact@hertssu.com.

 

Is drinking water available at The Forum?

You can ask for free drinking water at any of the bars located within The Forum.

 

Lost Property

I've lost something - who can I get in contact with?

Lost Student IDs will be returned to the Student Centre, Hutton Hub. Accommodation keys and cards will be returned to The Oval. All other valuables will be taken to UH Main Reception. Coats will need to be collected the next night The Forum is open at 9:50pm. Please note these will be collected the next day for weekday events and on the Monday following a Friday night event.

 

Booking/Hires

I would like to film in The Forum, what procedure do I follow?

I am a performer and would like to perform at The Forum, how should I go about this?

We are always on the lookout for performers in the venue. If you act fits with a theme, we may be able to book you. Please forward any queries to contact@hertssu.com.

 

I am a photographer and would like to take pictures at The Forum, how should I go about this?

The Forum currently has a photographer for our club nights. We do not allow extra photography or videography in the venue unless pre-approved by management. This is to ensure all attendees can feel comfortable in our spaces.

 

I would like to host an event at The Forum, how can I do this?

We do take some bookings for The Forum for private, corporate, society or club events. For further information, please email contact@hertssu.com.

 

Bans

How do I know if I am still banned from The Forum?

For any inquiries regarding a ban from The Forum, please email contact@hertssu.com.

 

What can I do to remove my ban from The Forum?

Bans from the forum cannot be appealed. They are determined by our licensing objectives and the University’s disciplinary recommendations. If you have been banned due to a non-The Forum related incident, please speak to the Dean of Students.

 

Other

What does 1st, 2nd and Final Release mean?

These are stages of ticket release where we gradually make tickets available to ensure everyone has an opportunity to purchase a ticket. After Final Release, there will be no more pre-event ticket sales.

 

Can I still get in for free the week of my birthday?

We are not currently operating a free ticket for birthdays due to the reduced capacity of our venues. We may be bringing this back later in the academic year.

 

Is there a dress code?

There is no formal dress code in the venue however, when wearing a hoodie, you cannot wear it up and any dress deemed inappropriate or offensive will not be granted entry to the venue. We also ask that you wear appropriate footwear at all times.

 

A picture of me was posted onto social media - can it be removed?
