Thank you to all student leaders who attended and contributed to the first Student Council of the 2023-24 academic year! Below you can see an overview of what was discussed.

Updates from the SU

CEO Rebecca Hobbs gave some important updates on behalf of the Students' Union which included Student Rep training, the new auto-enrollment into societies and the upcoming Bye-Elections, which concludes this Friday (3rd November) after 2 days of voting. The results will be published on our website on Friday!

As well as this our President, Manoj, spoke about the Elected Officers and the recent activities carried out, including a tuition fee extension for students in countries experiencing currency issues, such as Nigeria. He also spoke about the celebrations we have put on such as Black History Month. Each of the Officers have been up to their own events and planning, as well as attending meetings with important companies with the university, including Uno Buses.

Updates from our Student Trustee

The Student Trustee had taken part in their first meeting on Thursday 12th October and relayed back that the University has agreed to support students more throughout their degree. They also spoke about publicising the training workshops and the Report and Support process in place at the University. Manoj (President) has also been appointed as Deputy Chair for the Board and Student Governor for the University.

Motion 1: Changes to Bye-Law 3 and Memorandum and Articles

Rebecca, our CEO proposed changes to a Bye-Law that reflect changes to the Part-Time Officer structure and timings of the Officers on board. It was passed.

Chair Election Outcomes

Finally, student leaders voted for this year's Chair and Deputy for the Student Council board. Here are the results.

The next Student Council meeting will be on Tuesday 28th November at 3pm.
